Have you tried reinstalling the game? Yeah it is strange and I have tried re-installing it every so often to see whether I got the right programs or not at the time to make a particular game work. Kind of downloaded this around 1 - 2 years ago, so you can kind of image me installing this every month or season to see if there's any difference. Kind of like my other VN games where some will work on a different OS setup (still the same OS note) but different hardware and won't work on the current (I still suspect it's an software or OS related issue). Please note I am using OEM version of Window XP SP3 if it even makes a difference. Really hard to say it does to be honest.
