Infinity Alpha 50 Manual

Infinity Alpha 50 owners? Sorry to dig up an old dead tired but I just recently acquired a pair of never Ben used infinity alpha 50, two sets of alpha 20 and a 37c from a old mans who's son died after he ordered then they have been in his sons room for 10-11 years.

I own a pair and I love them, but it seems so hard to find any real reviews about them, and I am curious as to what others think. Also on a side note, how do they compare performance wise to the Beta's? Our setup includes the 50's in front, 37c center, 20's as surrounds and when used 10's as surround backs. I was running a 1200 sub but after it died I switched to a Velodyne.

Having owned the 50's for a number of years I can say without reservation that they are excellent tower speakers. I've been told that they rival or may even be superior to the Beta's.

In fact, you can take a look at my 50's as shown on CNET.com. Check it out at I just found a review of the 50's, here's a link - Best of luck, 49Merc. No one had replied and I had given up looking at the thread, as you can tell by the dates. As a matter of fact, I had already seen your setup at cnet.

I must say I'm very impressed. In retrospect, I should have chosen the cherry alpha's, I took the black. When I purchased my Alpha's, Crutchfield threw in 2 free Primus which I use for surrounds. I also kind of wish that I bought the matching Alpha's you have. The Primus sound good, but I bet yours have more body to the sound. Perhaps I could replace them with the new Beta surrounds, as they would probably match better. They are good speakers but I found the pull of upgrades to irresistible and picked up some ID speakers for a bit more performance. I still use the 20s in my bedroom. Originally Posted by nichtkomisch Has anyone tried biamping the Alphas?

Here is what Infinity has to say about biamping (bi-wiring) the Alpha's. The outer connection panel and internal dividing network of the Alpha 20, 40 and Alpha 50 are designed so that separate sets of speaker cables can be attached to the low-frequency transducer and midrange /highfrequency transducer portions of this dividing network. This is called bi-wiring. Dattatreya yoga shastra pdf download. Bi-wiring can provide several sonic advantages and considerably more flexibility in power amplifier selection. ============ My 50's are bi-wired and if my AVR gave me the option I would bi-wire my 20's. The result is outstanding. I can tell you that the sound quality is fuller and basically more pleasing.

Like I mentioned to bi-wire you must have an AVR that supports this process. For example, with my Denon AVR 987 (2807) I had a choice, have 6.1/7.1 or bi-wire and have 5.1. I choose to run 5.1 and bi-wire. I bet that most people do not bi-amp/bi-wire because their AVR does not give them the option. I've read in the 1800's manual about the biamping (and also, you give up 6.1/7.1 to do this, but 5.1 is all I need and have) so I was curious if the results are an audible sound improvement.
