John Deere 52 Plow Manual

Dec 21, 2012  John Deere #52 plows Came home with a couple John Deere #52 plows, so thought I'd share some pics. The one with paint is ready to use, while the rusty one needs some TLC and a few parts to make operational. How to work on John Deere 52 plow.

I just bought a very nice trip plow at an auction. I'm a newbee and hope to have fun this spring. I'm not sure of the 'Trip' function. I can't seem to get the plow out of plow mode and into 'non-plow' mode. When I bought it, it was in non-plow mode, and of course farting around with my new toy I pulled the lever, dropping it into plow mode. I believe pulling the trip lever forward (the one with a cord attached to the tractor seat)is the answer but it doesn't seem to work.

Am I doing something wrong? Is an owners manual available somewhere?

A automobile doughnut tire may also work. Very doughtfull that it came from factory with rubber. 16' likely a 6:00x16', if it was done late enough might have used a 15' rim for a 6:70x15' tire or earlier a 5:50x17' tire. So what rims do you have? Ours had an old car chain to use on the lift side. A car snow tire did work on land wheel but you will not find one the proper size now.

Growing up had 2 of the No. 52 plows, both 12' bottoms. One we had converted over to rubber, other was already done when we got it.
